About Us

My photo
Southern, California, United States
My sister and I are "Annie Louise". We live in sunny Southern California. Ever since we were kids our mom would take us to estate sale and garage sales. So I guess it is only natural that we still both love to go to garage sales, flea markets and thrift stores--- nothing more exciting than the thrill of the hunt and the find!! Our style is a cross between rustic, shabby chic and beachy. We are both new to blogging, but have decided to start our own blog. We hope you find this blog interesting and come back to visit often. Thanks for visiting, Jackie and Jeanette

Trying my hand at a new project

It has been raining hard here in "sunny" California, so I am not able to do any outdoor painting projects.  I thought this would be a perfect day to attempt some indoor projects I have wanted to try.  So I transformed by bedroom into my craft room and whipped up these wreaths.  I also made the rosettes that I have seen on so many blogs, but never could get mine to turn out, but today all the stars must have been aligned because I love how the rosettes and the wreaths turned out.  I tried to keep them rather natural looking so I left some strings hanging on them.  I also stamped "Paris" and "Bonjour" on the material I used for hangers.  I had a blast doing them.

I also attempted to make a burlap wreath, but it did not turn out well at all (it actually makes me laugh when I look at it)  so no post of the burlap wreath.  I will see if I can play around with it and then maybe I will post pictures of it.  I think that is it for crafting for today.  I now have to clean (if you have ever worked with burlap -- you know what I am talking about) my craft room and transform it back into my bedroom.

I am linking up with Faded Charm, White Wednesday--check it out for amazing white creations, and pictures.  http://fadedcharmcottage.blogspot.com/ and transformation Thursday at http://www.theshabbychiccottage.net/

A beautiful Sunset

It is raining, gray and dreary here in "sunny" southern California  (reminds me of my childhood in Oregon)..

The picute below is of a beautiful sunset that I took just one week ago.  What a difference a few days can make.

Jackie and I hope you are all enjoying a relaxing, cozy, warm weekend. Blessings to you all.

There is a Fall season in Southern California

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to share some pictures of our "fall season" in southern California.   Coming from Oregon many years ago, I will admit that it has taken me awhile to enjoy and notice that the seasons do change here.  May not be as showy as the season changing colors back east, but I still think it is beautiful.  Enjoy.

A persimmon tree in all it's glory.

Have a wonderful Friday.

White Wednesday in Old Towne Orange, CA

Hi everyone,
While Jackie and I were selling at the flea market in Orange, I went over to the library and snapped a few pictures of the original Old Towne Orange fountain.  This fountain was originally placed in the Plaza (circle) in Old Towne Orange in the late 1800's.  In 1937 it was moved to it's current site by the library.  They have benches around the fountain, making it a great place to sit and relax.   Unfortunately, in June of this year one of the beautiful egrets was stolen from the fountain.   I adore this fountain, and hope you do too.

I am linking with Faded Charm--hop on over to Faded Charm to soak up the great assortment of wonderful white Wednesday posts.  Have a great day everyone!

Just starting to decorate for Christmas -- slowly

Hi everyone,
Just a quick update--we are just starting to decorate for Christmas--whew where is the time flying?  Just had to get a small white tree this year, something about the white was calling out our name.

I love these silver, glittery pinecones.

In Southern California this is as close to white as we are going to get, today it is going to be 77 degrees.  Jackie and I will be selling at the Old Towne Orange flea market this Saturday.  Stop on by, we would love to chat.  The weather should be great, around 78 degrees :)  Hope this post turns out okay, my computer is giving me fits.  Computers can't live with them, can't live without them.  :)
Have a great day and blessings to you all.

A Few Garden Pictures Before the Rain Hit

Hi everyone -- Hope you are all having a great weekend.
Here in Southern California, it has been raining--pretty hard at times.  I thought I would go out and take some pictures of my (probably) last roses for the year before the rain hit and smashed them.

I just had to cut them and bring them into the house.

I have decided that I am going to buy a couple more roses this year, not sure where I will put the plants, but I love fresh cut flowers in the house.   I just adore this little girl relaxing in my garden under the shade of a lush jasmine bush and a mango tree.

And there is just something about a stack of worn bricks that I love--ooooooh the possibilities!

Wishing you all the best!

Madison (Jackie's daughter)

Madison (Jackie's daughter) (and my helper with this blog) is a real earthy girl, you know jeans, t-shirts, flip-flops and a little make-up.  Well here she is all dressed up for a friends wedding.   She had a great time, danced the night away.

Jackie's son Halloween outfit

Hi everyone,
Ok here are some pictures we took with our new camera.  The pictures are of Wyatt (Jackie's 18 year old son) and his James Bond 007 outfit for halloween.  The cigarettes are actually bubble gum cigarettes--good boy Wyatt :)

Hope you enjoyed the pictures of Bond, James Bond--I mean Evans, Wyatt Evans :)

Hey I think I did it - if you see this on our blog--I DID IT (with the help of Madison) I posted pictures from our new camera--yipee!!!

The Orange FleaMarket

Hi everybody,
Boy is it hard to get around to post anything--my hats off to all of you who do it much more frequently than I do :)  Anywho, Annie Louise had a fun and successful day at the Old Towne Orange Flea Market.  Thanks for all the kind comments.  My sister, Jackie, had to work, however other family members stepped up and really helped out.  Thanks to John, Wyatt, Madison and Solange--I could not have survived without you all.  Jackie (as far as we know) and I will be doing the Orange flea market again at their special show on Saturday, November 27 and then the Jamestown Village Flea Market in Tustin, CA on Sunday, November 28th.  Having said that and glancing at my calendar---I better get crackin' on all my "projects".  Hope you all have a great week.  (Someday I will get some pictures on my new camera-and attempt to post them-I promise------but don't hold your breath  lol :)
Take Care,
Jeanette

Orange, California Flea Market

Well--finally, my sister and I signed up to do the flea market in old towne orange, this saturday.  We have been trying for several months to get our schedule correct so that we could do this flea market, and it finally worked out.  However, my sister has gotten a last minute call to work on Saturday, so now I will be doing it alone :(  In case you haven't discovered my sister and I are practically tied at the hip, always have been probably always will be.  So if any of you are out and about Saturday, Nov. 13th from around 8:00-4:00 stop on by the flea market--I would love the company :)

Oh, also I have a new camera, but computer inept that  I am, I don't know how to download the photos yet.---Madison (my neice) is extremely busy with College and homework, her dog, her two cats, working, and having a little time to hang out with her friends......... so I feel terrible asking for her help, maybe one day I will attempt it by myself ---pray that I don't blow up my computer and/or camera or that I can find where the downloaded pictures even go on my computer--such trials :)
Have a great week!!

Jamestown Flea Market

Thanks to everyone who braved the sweltering heat (107 degrees) and came out to the Jamestown Flea Market yesterday.  It was sooooooooooooo hot we were able to leave the flea around 2:00 instead of the normal 3:00pm.  Jackie and I had a great time chatting with you all--while trying to ignore how hot it was :)  No pictures available--still without a camera, should be getting one soon.   Maybe we will see you at the Irvine College Flea Market this coming Sunday (we will be shopping--not selling.)  Have a great week everybody.  Blessings to you all.

What a morning!

Okay, I woke up today just fine.   While fixing my bed, I swung the blankets and sheet up and knocked over a glass of water on the nightstand, cleaned up that mess.  Then while opening my curtains, my curtain rod came apart swung down and hit me on the head.  Then within minutes of that happening I knocked over a candle and stand.  This all happened within minutes of waking up.  I thought about going back to bed and swinging the covers over my head--but I was afraid I would knocksomething down :)  Oh, also my camera broke -- so no pictures for a while--I am going through snapping picture withdrawl.  Hope you all are having a good day-  I figure mine can only get better.

New Signs

We found these brand new plaques at a thrift store.

We snatched them up and came up with these designs.
For C'est La Vie, we painted the wood white, then used stencils for the rest of the design.

For the Bonjour sign, we painted the entire wood piece gray, then with the help of our Silhouette machine printed out the word "Bonjour".
We put down the vinyl Bonjour lettering, then we painted over the Bonjour with white paint, so that the Bonjour lettering shown through in gray.

Hope you like them.

Goodbye Summer

As summer winds down and fall comes into view, we want to share some relaxing pictures we took of our final outing to the beach before schools starts up again and the time to sit at the beach and unwind are short, few, and far between.

And a special shout out to John (Jackie's husband) who helps us with selling at the flea market, his help is greatly appreciated and his relaxing walk along the beach is much deserved.

Hope you all have a relaxing week.    Jackie and Jeanette

Transformation Thursday Paleness

We bought a package of these white canvas art pallets on sale at Michaels.

The one above is white, it  doesn't really show up in this picture.
We decided to paint this one gray and glue on some pale beach rocks in the form of a cross.

We love the simplicity of the canvas and the pale colors of the stones -- hope you like it too. Hop on over to The Shabby Chic Cottage to see many wonderful transformations. http://www.theshabbychiccottage.net/

Have a wonderful Thursday,
