About Us

My photo
Southern, California, United States
My sister and I are "Annie Louise". We live in sunny Southern California. Ever since we were kids our mom would take us to estate sale and garage sales. So I guess it is only natural that we still both love to go to garage sales, flea markets and thrift stores--- nothing more exciting than the thrill of the hunt and the find!! Our style is a cross between rustic, shabby chic and beachy. We are both new to blogging, but have decided to start our own blog. We hope you find this blog interesting and come back to visit often. Thanks for visiting, Jackie and Jeanette

White Wednesday Laundry

When my sister and I were kids, we dreaded doing the laundry. Downstairs in the cold, dark basement, sure that there were creeping crawlies hanging out down there, then having to trudge up the stairs carrying load after heavy load of laundry, through the hall, through the kitchen, out the back door, down more stairs to the furthest part of the grass, to hang the clothes up on the clothesline. All this to be repeated quickly in reverse when we had to bring the clothes inside, because, living in Oregon, we were always on the lookout for rain. Well now, we are grown and look at clotheslines and clothes swaying in the gentle breeze completely differently. It is so relaxing to do the wash and hang it out on the line.

Listening to the chirping birds, taking in the beautiful blue skies, the flowers that continue to amaze us with their survival capabilities, our Labrador Retriever, Hunter, roaming right by our side--it is a time for us to unwind, count our blessings, and realize that life is good, to savor the simple joys of living each day. Of course living in sunny Southern California—we do not have to worry about rain as much as we did when we were kids living in Oregon. For other white Wednesday eye candy head on over to Kathleen at Faded Charm. Wising you a relaxing, blessed day—Jackie, Jeanette and Hunter

Garden Wonders (more like miracles in our garden :)

First off let me say, my sister and I love to garden but we are in no way experts. We also do not have as much time to devote to our garden as we would like. Our mom is a great gardener, but has slowed down considerably in her ability to garden with age.  So Jeanette and I try our best to have our garden look half as good as all of Mom's gardens have looked throughout the years.  One thing we know for sure is our plants have to be strong to survive in our garden :)  Now, in saying that---it is a beautiful day here in sunny Southern California so we meandered outside to take pictures (before we kill them) of some pink flowers currently thriving (go figure) in our garden--hope you enjoy.
Take care and have  a wonderful day,

Jackie and Jeanette

Hoopla

I found a bag of these embroidery hoops and clothespin at the thrift store for $1.91 for the entire kit-n-kaboodle.

I got out some of my material, stamps and stamp pad and viola—I hope you like this little transformation.

Weekend Findings

My sister and I had a great weekend. These are just some of the goodies we found at various locations (we even were fortunate enough to find some free things yippee). We found an abundance of silver dishes, trays, organization holders, two brand new shadow boxes still in their wrappers, a great desk lamp and  two brand new lampshades. The cute little umbrella was a free item, as well as some magazines, a white (no material on it) lampshade and what appears to be an old metal white with blue trim hospital tray (we are still working on cleaning it up). We had a great time at the flea market this weekend.  We found some wonderful  flatware.  It was fun walking around and taking in all the gorgeous sights, there were a ton of great vendors and buys to be had! Hope you had a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by.
